5 killed in Texas; suspect arrested

Five individuals were shot and died Thursday in McGregor Texas, police said. Sgt. Ryan Howard of the Texas Department of Public Safety verified the fatal toll to media after a police-involved shooting

The victims' and suspect's identities will be disclosed later, he added, but he couldn't say much more since the event is still under investigation.

"We want the community to heal," he added. The news is devastating.
The incident happened in McGregor, a community of 5,500 west of Waco.

McGregor Mayor Jimmy Hering said officers responded to a 7:30 a.m. A town home was shot at.

On arrival, cops were fired at by the suspect, who was then arrested, he added. Unknown whether suspect was injured.

Hering: "This senseless violence has decimated our community." While families are contacted, please keep them, the cops, and McGregor in your prayers.
