Amazon rolls out new Prime perk as subscription growth slows

Amazon's Prime membership typically lures customers with quick and free delivery, but it has other features as well.

Amazon Music's free tier will now offer tens of millions of ad-free songs, says The Wall Street Journal. The change comes amid tough competition and sluggish growth.

The tech behemoth has 200 million Prime subscribers globally. Insider Intelligence expects annual growth in U.S. Prime subscribers to slow to 2% by 2025.

Slowdown occurs amid increased subscription competition. Walmart's membership club offers free delivery on tens of thousands of goods. CNBC reports 11 million Walmart+ members.

Walmart has also offered a Paramount+ membership this year.
Amazon is increasing Prime members' music libraries.

Amazon Prime's vice president told WSJ, "We're investing in Prime." "Music is the newest investment... Members' top request was'more music,' so we worked with publishers to make it happen."
