According to a recent TMZ story, EMTs unsuccessfully attempted to save Coolio's life by giving him CPR for around 45 minutes until he was tragically declared dead.
The 59-year-old, who lived in Las Vegas, was in California to take care of passport-related issues that needed to be resolved before forthcoming gigs he had planned in Europe.
The management of Coolio claimed to TMZ that the rapper seemed to have had a heart attack, but the publication was unable to verify that claim.
Coolio's manager, Jarez Posey, released a statement saying, "As far as what I know now is that he was at a friend's house and was in his bathroom and suffered a heart attack" (via CNBC).
Although the official cause of death has not been determined, according to Entertainment Tonight, "paramedics suspect heart arrest."
