Australian health insurer says data of all customers hacked

When the company's shares were suspended a week ago, police were informed that "large volumes of health claims data" had been accessed.

The burglar has demanded cash and threatened to reveal celebrity diagnoses and treatments.

Medibank prioritised identifying each customer's stolen data and informing them.

The business previously maintained the hack was restricted to its subsidiary AHM and overseas students.

Optus discovered on Sept. 21 that more than one-third of Australia's 26 million people had their personal data taken.

Companies who collect too much consumer data to profit from it in ways unrelated to the services for which it was supplied are criticised by the government.
