Ben Simmons' Nets debut falls flat as star guard fouls out in loss to Pelicans

Simmons, the Nets' starting point guard, had more fouls than points and attempted just three shots in 23 minutes before fouling out early in the fourth quarter.

The Aussie had four points on 2-of-3 shooting, five assists, five rebounds, three turnovers, six fouls, and two missed free throws.

In the victory, New Orleans outscored the Nets 36-4 on second-chance points, 62-46 in the paint, and 21 offensive rebounds.

Simmons scored the Nets' opening point off Royce O'Neale's assist on an alley-oop.

His playmaking and passing style were his team's strengths.

Simmons will need time to adjust to the Nets' many newcomers.
