Donovan Mitchell shows New York Knicks what they missed out on during Cavaliers’ 121-108 comeback win
The Knicks, Mitchell's "hometown" franchise, were mentioned more than any other team in trade speculations involving the three-time All-Star this past summer.
Mitchell himself had assumed that he would eventually make his way to the Big Apple.
As a result of a breakdown in negotiations, Mitchell was snatched up by the Cavaliers instead of the Knicks.
Mitchell started a late rally on Sunday night in his first game of the season against New York.
At the start of the final quarter, Bickerstaff would often bench Mitchell for a few minutes.
After a poor third quarter saw the Cavaliers fall down by nine points, Mitchell requested that head coach J.B. Bickerstaff make lineup changes.
