If Rotoscoping Isn’t Animation, Nothing Is

The Oscars' animation committee rejected the film's Best Animated Film nomination in July.

One problem is that no rational viewer would consider any of the scenes in Apollo 1012 to be live action.

A lot of the earliest animation looks just like special effects that were added to a live-action film.

This award is a joke because of how poorly it represents the diversity and originality of the medium in which it was created.

Spirited Away, which won almost 20 years ago, opened the category's lone "strange spot," according to Linklater.

Since submitting their appeal on September 12, Linklater and Pallotta have not heard from the Academy.
