NASA names 16-person panel tasked with investigating UFOs

NASA said in June that it will assemble a group to research "unidentified aerial phenomenon" (UAP), or UFOs, despite not believing they're "extraterrestrial in origin."

David Spergel, a former director of astrophysics at Prince University, is leading the panel.

UAPs reported by military pilots are being probed by US defence and intelligence authorities, but this panel is distinct from that effort.

Special effects professionals who can identify manipulated or phoney footage are noticeably missing, such as the Corridor Crew.

Even NASA itself doesn't appear to think these films and encounters amount to anything.

Scientists use data as a means of communication because it allows them to provide explanations for phenomena that have previously defied explanation.
