NFL world responds after football legend passes away at age 72

Ray Guy, without a doubt one of the most influential punters in the history of professional football, received some unfavorable news that shocked the NFL community.

Guy played for the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders organization for 14 years after finishing his three-year undergraduate career at Southern Mississippi.

He was the first and only punter to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014, and is largely considered as the first great punter in football history.

Guy won three Super Bowls and appeared on three All-Pro teams while playing in the NFL. He also made seven Pro Bowl appearances.

His influence extended to collegiate football, where the "Ray Guy award" is given annually to the best punter in the sport.

Many others expressed their grief at his passing and shared their fondest playing memories on social media because of the everlasting impact he had on the NFL community.
